COVID19 New York's Empire State Building lit up in an uplifting gesture

Amidst the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, the Empire State Building lights up in an uplifting gesture

You wouldn’t want to miss this…….

89 years after its completion, the Empire State Building continues to hold a dominating presence over New York's skyline. The iconic art-deco skyscraper has been lit up to acknowledge numerous occasions, events, holidays and more. This experience was enhanced further, when in 2012 the skyscraper's lighting system received an upgrade to a computer-driven LED lighting system capable of displaying 16 million colours.

A Heartfelt Gesture

Currently, one can witness the Empire State Building lit-up again. Empire State Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE: ESRT) in partnership with iHeartMedia (Nasdaq: IHRT) is hosting a music-to-light show, designed by award-winning light artist Marc Brickman. It is being synced with Alicia Keys' Empire State of Mind. Since the world is grappling with the COVID-19 outbreak with people being compelled to stay home, this show comes as an effort to communicate feeling of hope and solidarity through the combined media of lights and music. “The Empire State Building has always served as an international symbol of hope, of challenges overcome, and of New York City itself,” says Anthony E. Malkin, Chairman and CEO, ESRT, in a press release. “With iHeartRadio, the radio network of America, she provides comfort and inspiration to New Yorkers, America, and the world.”

Stronger Together

The first show took place on March 27, with shows scheduled to take place daily till April 2, 2020 at 9pm EST (India - March 28 to April 3 at 6.30am IST). Elvis Duran of iHeartMedia's Z100 has been starting every show five minutes prior with a spotlight interview acknowledging and honouring people who are at the forefront of dealing with this crisis. The show can be viewed by those in India via live streaming on Empire State Building's Facebook page.

A tad early for those of us in India, but we are pretty sure, this one is not to be missed.
